Today’s tip comes from Wolverhampton where a consistent horse drops back down in trip to a distance where winning is very familiar. TRIP THE LIGHT runs in the 20:50 and will appreciate the return to tonight’s trip of 1m 4f having won over the distance 5 times. He ran over 1m 6f LTO at Southwell where he finished an impressive 2nd, considering his career high mark. Despite being on the same mark today, he has been on an upward curve all season and has shown before that he handles the all weather surface just fine.

Today’s tip comes from Huntingdon where Miss Gina Andrews claims seven lbs on a horse who she has an incredible record with. Sometimes it pays to take note of up-and-coming amateur jockeys and this talented apprentice seems to have the midas touch on VIABLE, who is running in the 13:40 at Huntingdon. She has finished in the top three on all of her five rides on this horse, a statistic which could be worth a lot of money. Partner that with the facts that this horse is already a course and distance winner and Miss Andrews claims a whopping 7lbs, we have a very strong betting opportunity.

Today’s tip comes from Kempton where SOCCER JACKPOT runs in the 20:50. Although his best form has come over longer distances, he put in a commanding performance here in March and then followed up with a similarly impressive win next time out. Both times showing plenty of speed, enough to think he can triumph over this shorter trip. The field isn’t the most competitive and his all weather record reads 2 from 4.

Today’s tip comes from Folkestone where it could pay to follow trainer Tom George, who is in fantastic form. SHAKE THE BARLEY is only 3 lbs higher than his Fontwell win in May and is open to more improvement in this sphere. This horse is often let down by his jumping but has still scored three times from ten chase runs. Folkestone’s fences are relatively easy compared to some and having won on both right-handed and undulating tracks previously there is no reason to believe he will not act here if in the right mood. He is a distance winner, is proven on good-soft ground (and up to heavy should conditions deteriorate) so could have outsider claims today under Sam Thomas.

Today’s tip comes from Leicester where one horse takes the eye based on the form of his maiden. He took a Hereford maiden in February in convincing style, leaving horses behind who have gone on to win and place in future races. He returned to action at Stratford last month but the trip was far too long and the ground was not as soft as he likes. The stable have high hopes for him today so, with trip and ground to suit, this horse looks tasty at a mouth watering 12/1.

Today’s tip comes from Cheltenham again where Nigel Twiston-Davies has talked up the chances of KHYBER KIM in the 14:20. Renowned as a very tricky horse, it’s difficult to know what to expect on the first run of the season but his trainer sounds very confident.
“If I told this horse that hard work never killed anyone he’d reply ‘but why take the chance?’”
“He keeps plenty for himself, but he comes into this race as fit as he has ever been. First time out every season is when he’s most likely to show his true worth and I’m expecting a big run.”
Having moved from Nicky Henderson to Twiston-Davies in the summer of 2008, Khyber Kim ran his best race first time out for the yard at Newbury last November, finishing a close second to Helens Vision in the Gerry Feilden Hurdle. The comments from his trainer are too ominous to be ignored and this horse can be got for an extremely attractive price.

Today’s tip comes from Cheltenham where Paddy Brennan partners a horse with an exceptional record at this course. BALLYFITZ hails from last years winning stable of Nigel Twiston Davies and has previously won over further than today’s 2m 4f, which bodes very well considering the energy sapping conditions at Cheltenham. He loves the course, with figures of U,1,2,1,1,2,P. Ran away with a novice chase here at the meeting last year and has proven on many occasions that he can handle a fast pace up the hill. It’s also a big field, something which he has thrived on in the past.

Today’s tip comes from Lingfield where a real improver runs in the 14:15. MEMORANDUM is improving after two starts at Bath, posting a promising debut 5th before following up with an impressive 3rd 23 days ago. She is also owned by K Abdulla whose horses are running well here this year (5 wins from 13). She breaks extremely well and shows good pace throughout, something which could see her leave this field behind.

Today’s tip comes from Taunton where a three time hurdle winner returns to jump racing for the first time in a year and a half. Formerly with Alan King, MEXICAN BOB he hasn’t been seen over hurdles since April 2008 but won 3 times in that season, most notably over this course and distance. The horse showed that he retains plenty of ability when winning on the Flat at Beverley for his current trainer Charlie Longsdon in August. I think a case can be made to view him as very well treated, with the potential to progress further. So, the decision to make is whether he can reproduce his previous fairly useful hurdle form after such a long absence in this sphere. With the stable going well, I think the horse is definitely worth chancing at reasonable odds.

Today’s tip comes from Kempton where a John Best horse looks to confirm promise shown on his debut run. SLIP SLIDING AWAY has had one start to date which came at Lingfield last week when coming 3rd behind Sahara Kingdom and Ongoodform. If you discard the favourite who was obviously a class above, as his 2/9 favourite tag would incline, the selection was only 1 and a quarter lenghts behind Ongoodform who had shown decent form to date including romping away with a maiden at Yarmouth before playing the bridesmaid in two higher class events since. It is definitely worth siding with SLIP SLIDING AWAY, with natural progression and improvement almost certain to come.
