Today’s tip comes from Catterick where CATHEDRAL SPIRES looks to build on a fantastic debut LTO at York. After taking a while to get used to proceedings, he started to pick up very nicely towards the end and, if it was not for being hampered in the last furlong, would have won comfortably. A reproduction of that effort, in much weaker company, should see him win easily today.

LTO at this course, the horse ran a very brave race, leading until inside the final furlong and only finishing 1 1/2 lengths from the winner. Down in trip today and with Seb Sanders to judge the pace, she has a great chance today at double figure odds.

Today’s tip comes from Pontefract where the handicapper may have cut SHEILING a break. She’s been dropped 2lbs after finishing strongly to claim 4th LTO. That was over 11 furlongs, suggesting that today’s trip of 12f will be more suitable. She’s very well bred and has a lot of past winners in her family so it wouldn’t be a shock if she improved enough to take this one today.

It’s unclear which category this horse falls into but while she’s in this sort of form, it could pay to stick with her. The trip isn’t a problem, neither is the ground, and the race is of a lower class than the one she almost landed LTO. Despite the price being prohibitive, backing her to finish in the top two is still a good bet.
