Today’s tip comes from Uttoxeter where STRONG COFFEE, despite a 7lb penalty for his Newton Abbott win, looks to double up. He had some very good form over fences a couple of years ago but then seemed to lose his way. The fitting of first-time blinkers did the trick last time and, with the headgear on again today, he can continue his ressurgence.

Today’s tip comes from Perth where wise old campaigner OLLIE MAGERN looks to have a good each way shout. Despite being near the tail end of his career he has still been racing at a high level and today’s drop into class 2 could be what’s needed to get him back into the winner’s enclosure. His performance in the National was uninspiring but he was fairly game off of this mark in a similar affair LTO at Perth. The trip holds no fears, neither does the ground and at this level, off this mark (23lb than his last win), he can at least run into the places.

Today’s tip comes from Southwell where the Ford stable sends out BATTLE STATIONS and a big run is expected. Only seen twice since breaking duck in 2m4f Aintree novice hurdle back in June 2008 but was respectable fifth on recent return to action at Chepstow. He has reportedly had his problems but word is that these have been adressed and the horse is ready to perform. Robert Thornton booked as well, which is a big positive.

Today’s tip comes from Hexham where MILANS MAN goes for a hat trick against horses who should be scared of his prescence. It’s not often you see a horse rated 127 in this grade, especially one who is on an upward curve. He has adapted well to hurdles this season and, with stamina and attitude assured, he can defy a double penalty.

Today’s tip comes from Southwell where MAD VICTOR goes chasing under rules for the first time. This horse has been prolific in point-to-point; winning six of his 13 starts; last two gained in very easy fashion (winning latest ladies open at Chaddesley Corbett for second time) and confidence must be high ahead of rules debut.

Today’s tip comes from Chepstow where Robert Alner brings CASHEL BLUE back to the course in the hope of repeating last year’s success in the same race. Last year he won off a 3lb higher mark than today, again on good to soft ground. Soundly beaten all four subsequent outings but two of those have been in chases and the other two, over hurdles. All were in very testing ground and in higher grade. The stable is running very well and he’s well in with a chance today.

Today’s tip comes from Bangor on Dee where THAT’S RHYTHM comes back to the course after a short break aiming to build on the good hurdles form shown earlier in his career. Progressed well when completing a hat-trick as a hurdler in 2007 and accrued useful form as chaser since, featuring ready win off 1lb higher here in November. Stays well and return to hurdles not an obvious negative.

Today’s tip comes from Kempton where the often imperious MADISON DU BERLAIS lines up against rivals who simply don’t measure up to the class and performances he has shown throughout his career. A cracking second place in the King George, only finding Kauto Star too good, shows he still retains plenty of ability. The odds today look favourable and the introduction of cheek pieces could prove a big positive.

Today’s tip comes from Taunton where an interesting runner from the Brennan stable re-emerges after 2 years off the course. HERALD ANGEL has not been on a race course since April 2008 when he finished an uninspiring 4th over an inadaquate trip. Today’s trip of 3m has conjured a good run out of him in the past and his trainer says the horse has been performing brilliantly at home, hence his recent entries. Could go in at long odss.

Today’s tip comes from Sandown where the Martin Keighley trained ANY CURRENCY looks to maintain his impressive record over fences. This horse was unlucky to finish 2nd four times last season over hurdles but always gave the impression he was capable of winning races. He has been equally impressive since taking to fences, landing two wins and three places from five runs. Looks good in the weights today and has a great chance of continuing the rich vein of form.
