Today’s tip comes from Carlisle where it’s worth taking a chance on DOUBLE EAGLE. Jason Maguire’s mount has been chasing recently but turned in a couple of decent efforts back over hurdles last month. He finished second in a Grade 2 hurdle at Sandown in his youth and if he could recapture just some of that form, would take all the beating here.

Today’s tip comes from Carlisle where Ferdy Murphy brings a consistent performer down in trip, hoping to get him back to winning ways. LE ROI ROUGE looked better than ever when runner-up behind the useful Agglestone Rock on his latest outing over an extended 2m4f at Wetherby in April and this drop in trip should help his cause. All of his victories have come with some cut in the ground so any further rainfall would help.

Today’s tip comes from Carlisle where a horse who fell at the first in the Grand National this year aims to show his true colours. Sue Smith’s HIMALAYAN TRAIL has great form on heavy ground and has impressed with his incredible stamina at home. Although he does not possess a real turn of pace, he should handle the testing conditions, which could be the undoing of most of his rivals.

Today’s tip comes from Carlisle where the talented DOESLESSTHANME makes his seasonal debut. This exciting novice chaser from the powerful Howard Johnson yard was only beaten by 2 horses last season; the smart Alfie Flits and Knockara Beau – who both went on to have highly successful seasons. These 2 defeats both came in black type races, so his record of 5 wins from 7 is impressive. He has decent track form, and has won over today’s distance. Howard Johnson is a prolific trainer at the track and has nominated this horse as his ‘one to follow’ for the season so it would be no surprise if he won today, at odds of around 3/1.
